Investors welcomed 9 Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and 3 Reverse Takeovers (RTOs) on the ASX throughout February. In what was a solid month for debutants, all but one February listing ended the month equal to or above its float price.
Resource companies again made up the bulk of new entrants for the second month running, courtesy of listings from COB, ARL and MTC. Health Care debutants (AC8, ESE) and consumer facing businesses (DW8, TB8) were the following categories most represented. Individual listings also came from several other sectors including Industrials (RGI), Information Technology (SHO), Financials (EDC) and a REIT (VP7).
While there were no prolific changes throughout February for listings which debuted in January, three February floats enjoyed a stellar run.
Despite a 10% drop on its IPO debut, Ardea Resources has since raced from a listing price of 20c to 60.5c – a 202.5% increase. The company has attracted attention from cobalt investors, particularly with its pre-feasibility study into a cobalt zone near Kalgoorlie.
Also capitalising on the cobalt thematic, Cobalt Blue has seen a 55% increase in its share price since its IPO priced at 20c.
Listing via a reverse takeover, Auscann Group is the third stock to have been treated favourably by the investment community. The company started slowly out of the blocks, only rising 10% on its relisting. However, it now sits 60% higher at 32c.
Supporting its share price surge, the company announced plans for its first crop to be harvested in Chile in April this year, and a Federal Government decision was made to provide patients faster access to medicinal cannabis through a more efficient importation process.
